Panihati, once a small hamlet on the bank of the great river Ganges in the Northern Suburb of Kolkata acquired a place in Bengali civilization for its links with legendary personalities like Sri Ramkrishna Paramhangsha Deb, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Sri Nityananda, Sri Rabindranath t Tagore, Gandhiji, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Sri Jawharlal Neheru, Khan Abdul Gaffer Khan, Sri Achariya Prafulla Chandra Ray, Rishi Bankim Chandra & such others. The place also made its mark in the field of industry with establishment of several textile and engineering factories on the both sides of the Barrackpore Trunk Road. Panihati Utsav is an attempt to celebrate its glorious past of the place and to showcase its rich present in the field of art and culture, trade and commerce and all other important aspects of life. The Utsav is an attempt to encapsulate the rich fares of cultural pageantry, art gallery, self -help hut, trade and commerce pavilion, children village, food park, flower exhibition, book fair & free medical camp etc all under one umbrella. All leading print and electronic media will give wide coverage to the Utsav. Naturally, the Utsav will be a huge draw amongst people from all corners of the district of North 24 Pgs and even beyond.
